For many, the thought of complaining can be daunting. A guide has been created by Healthwatch England which takes you through the process of how to complain and where you can obtain further information. To start with, who you contact to make a formal complaint will depend on:
- whether you are complaining about health care or social care, and
- whether that care is paid for by the NHS or local authority or it has been paid for privately
When making a complaint, there are some simple tips to help navigate the process. If you make the complaint verbally,
- keep a record of what you said
- when you said it
- and who you said it to
It can be a good idea to follow the conversation up in a letter or email. You should keep all correspondence as it may be needed in the future.
When you use this guide please can you contact us on 0161 622 5700. This allows us to keep a record of the service you have received from this guide and will allow us to identify any trends within the local area of similar issues which may be arising.
You can access the guide here.
